About TheLawyerFiles

TheLawyerFiles is a growing legal podcast and platform dedicated to making the legal journey feel real, relatable and inspiring. Every episode gives listeners an honest look into the experiences behind the titles. From trainees at top City firms to in house counsel at global brands, barristers, paralegals, future trainees and those carving non traditional routes, the show highlights the many paths people take to succeed in law. The blog extends this mission by sharing five question features, career insights and practical guidance to help aspiring legal professionals build confidence, knowledge and direction.

TheLawyerFiles has reached listeners across four continents in over 40 countries within the first 6 months and continues to grow through authentic conversations, thoughtful storytelling and a commitment to showcasing diverse voices within the profession.

About Denice Obeng

My name is Denice Obeng and I am the creator and host of TheLawyerFiles. I am an LLB graduate and, after completing an internship with the Ministry of Justice, I now work as an Employment Tribunal Clerk and Immigration Usher. I am also completing the LLM LPC. My own journey into law has been shaped by resilience, curiosity and real life experience. Growing up, I didn’t always know what direction I wanted to take, but law became the path that pushed me, challenged me and helped me discover my strengths.

I started TheLawyerFiles because I know how confusing and overwhelming the legal world can feel when you are trying to break in. I wanted to build something that gives clarity, reassurance and community. Something that shows aspiring lawyers that their story matters too. I interview people with different backgrounds, experiences and challenges so listeners can hear what is possible for them and feel empowered to follow their own path.

Alongside the podcast, I run a Substack where I share blog features, resources, reflections and opportunities. My hope is that The Lawyer Files becomes a home for anyone navigating the early stages of their legal career and a platform that reminds people that every step of their journey has value.

If you are new here, welcome. I’m glad you found this space and I hope it gives you something useful, encouraging and inspiring.
